Apolipoprotein E Polymorphism in Patients with the Myocardial Infarction

Abstract
|
|
|
|
The structual gene locus for apolipoprotein E (apo E) is polymorphic. Our results utilizing discontinuous SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing show that the apo E from patients with myocardial infarction (M.I.) and control group are of molecular weight 36,000 and three common alleles (E₂, E₃, E₄). The frequencies of apo E allele are E₄=0.291, E₃=0.581, E₂=0.125 in M.I. and E₄=0.469, E₃=0.313, E₂=0.219 in controls. There was no significant difference between two groups.
